One day, Calleny Warseas and I were watching some dibbuns splash around
in the shallow pools of the River Moss. We sipped mint tea in the shade of
an oak tree. Then we heard the two dibbuns scream,"A-A-A-AH! I can't swen,
hep me!" Calleny whipped around and dove into the river. I ran to help the
dibbun mouse who was being swept further downstream by the current. I
picked up a branch while racing twords the mouse. Calleny sprung out of the
water, carrying the molemaid back to saftey. " Grab hold!" I shouted to the
mouse. He managed to grab the end of the branch. CRACK! The branch
couldn't hold the weight of the chubby mouse dibbun. He clung to part of
the branch and had soon washed out of sight. Calleny walked up to me with
the scared molemaid in her arms. " We can't go back without that mouse," I
told her. " Your right, he was keeping his head above the water. I'll go
find him, you take the mole home," she said. "No, im the one who let him
slip away, I have to find him." I replied. With that, I retrieved my axe
and walked downstream.
Noon became evening and the sky was of the colors purple, pink and
orange. I traveled further down the banks of the river. I soon came upon
some mouse tracks leading deep into Mossflower. I followed these for about
15 minutes, then they led to a bush. Behind the bush, the tiny mouse was
shivering in his damp clothes." I'm s-s-cared." he said in a wispery voice.
" Don't you worry, you'l be fine," I said reassuringly. Then, out of
nowhere, a toad jumped on my back and stabbed at me with a trident. I
smashed my back into a tree, crushing the toad. 5 more toads attacked me.
I scliced one with my axe and kicked another. One hacked away at my
footpaw. I roared with pain. Calleny jumped in, slinging a rock between
the toad's eyes and choking another with her sling. I thrusted my axe
through the last toad. "You didn't think I'de leave my matey 'ta get hurt
did yah?" She said as she took out a blsnket and wrapped it around the
frightened mouse. " I could 'ave slayed them with my own two paws if i
wanted too." I said stubbornly, " Although, i could benefit from less scars
i suppose." " Oh, would yah look at that foot of yers!" Calleny said as
she reached into her bag for some herbs. " That's nothing, it can wait 'til
we get back to Willow" I said.
" Nothing my tail, Blossomstripe, that is one huge gash! I better sew
it back for yah." She said taking out a needle. " Ohhh no you don't! I'm no
pin cushion!" I yelled and tried to run away, but could only hobble.
