An Otters Adventure

By Lilypad of the Rainbowcrest

One day, I was swimming in the River Moss, when I heard a couple of moles talking. It was hard to translate what they were saying, (I never was good at language) but I finally found out what the two were saying. I was surprised by what I heard. Apperantly, Freewind, the horse who pulled the cart Cluny transported his troops in, was running wild. She was frightened and nervous. Someone had to find her. I decided to accept the mission for Camp Willow. I set off on a beautiful Spring day, and decided that the best way to travel would be by water. So I plopped down into the River Moss and started swimming along with the currant.
After a while, I heard a vauge cry.
"Logalogalogalog!"
Oh, just the Guosim. I thought it was Freewind. Soon, three shrew longboats rounded a corner in the river.
"Hello there, Log-a-log!"
I cried. Some of those shrews and I were old friends. I'd known the Guosim since I was a dibbun. Log-a-log turned in the prow of the first longboat.
"Hello, Lilypad."
He wasn't looking very happy, though.
"What's up? Is something wrong?"
"Yes," a young shrew piped up. "It's a big brown monster, and it's running loose in Mossflower Woods!"
"It's a horse," Log-a-log explained. "You know, the one Cluny.."
"Sure, I know! I'm out looking for her!"
"Oh, so that's what you're doing so far from Camp Willow! We last saw her over this way. Just hop on board and we'll be off!"
We stopped near a grassy woodland glade, and I heard some snorting noises. Freewind was still here! "All right, Freewind will be frightened if we all go over, she'll think you shrews are minature rats! No offence." I added, quickly.
"Here, Lilypad, you, Liff, and I can go." Log-a-log said. He pushed a shrew forward. "This is Liff. Liff, this is Lilypad. Now, let's go."
Together, the three of us hopped of the boat, and walked over to the Glade. I heard a frightened whinny. "That way," I whispered. We advanced to where the noises were coming from.Suddenly, a horse emerged from the trees. Its eyes were wide, and ears were flat on its head. "Freewind!" I gasped. Upon hearing her name, the horse stopped.
"Who said that? Who are you? What are you doing here? How do you know my name?" Freewind whinnied. "You aren't that rat's servants, are you? You aren't going to take me back to him?" Her eyes grew wider.
"The rat's dead. He was smashed by the Great Joseph bell. But come on, do you want to come to Camp Willow? You'll be safe there."
Freewind nodded. " All right, you probably wouldn't like swimming or riding in the longboats, so you can trot along the riverbank. Thank you for your help, Log." I said, turning to the shrew.
"It was nothing. Well, see you around!" The shrews and the longboats sped off, and I dove into the water. "Just follow me, Freewind!"
